Mangamaru

Keta pu kekami, Misnang datun,
Lalu't laluna, neng gatpanapun.
Ala kang apansin, Nung e ring sasarul--Ay!
A tukitukian da retang mangamaru, ampong maglipaktung.

Chorus:
Katakap ning silim, at tahimik.
Ala kang damdaman,

Gaga da ring ayup, gaga ring kuliglig--Ay!

Cricketing Song

(Among Pampangos, juicy crickets caught from the newly-turned earth
of the farmer's plow are sauted in garlic, onions and a wisp of
vinegar provide a delicious and exotic dish. The song has this English
translation for the benefit of our English world-wide audience).

Over the meadows green,
Clean and serene;
Beyond the river, and over yonder.
You will see farmers toil,
Plowing the fertile soil,
And the happy children catching crickets and then,
Catching crickets again.

Chorus:
When the twilight will call,
Silence will fall,
Nothing more will you hear,
From far and near,
But the night birds singing,
And the cicadas chirping,
Such is life in the farm,
Simple, happy and warm,
Full of joy, full of charm.

"Do not cry Pepito. Show these people that you are brave. It is a rare opportunity for me to die for our country. Not everybody is given that chance."

Saying attributed to Supreme Court Justice Jose Abad Santos of San Fernando, Pampanga when he was captured with his son and was interrogated by the Japanese in 1942.
