Bamban Elementary School Day | March 24, 1938

From 1936 to 1940, Bamban Elementary School had the good fortune to have a very diligent and enthusiastic school principal in the person of Mr. Jose Ramos from Cebu. Bamban was then a first class town because of the Sugar Central. There were three movie houses then and bowling alleys.

Mr. Ramos initiated a Bamban Elementary School Day, with a parade composed of all the school children, Boy Scouts, Drum and Bugle Corps.

Belen Santos, 5th grade daughter of Dr. Patricio Santos, was voted by the school population as Miss Bamban Elementary School and Queen on a float during the Parade. She chose as her escort, 6th grade Delfin Sibal, son of Atty. Marcelo Sibal who was also the Mayor of Bamban in 1938. Belen Santos was the younger sister of Vilma Santos' father, Amado Santos. The Santoses were natives of Bamban, Tarlac. The Second Princess was 7th grade Perla Sibal, who was the daughter of Pharmacist Abelardo Sibal. The First Princess was Bella Flor Navarro, the 6th grade daughter of Mr. Cecilio Navarro of Fort Stotsenberg, forerunner of Clark Air base. The Children sang the Bamban Elementary School Song.

During Mr. Ramos' tenure as principal, all 7th grade graduates had operettas during their graduation. The class of 1937 showed "Windmills of Holland," Class of 1938 performed "Daughters of Mohammed." Bamban Elementary School had many fundraising shows and programs like folk dances and operettas. Bamban folks still remember those peaceful, simple and easy days of their lives before World war II.

BAMBAN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL SONG

Dear Alma Mater
Beloved Bamban School
Your sons and daughters will march to victory.

Your loyal children
are waiting for their fate,
Will fight with all their might for Bamban School.

Chorus:
Be ready boys, for the joy of our beloved
Bamban Elementary School
Let's sing and shout all,
For Bamban's glory--
Oh come and join us to sing for Victory.
